Black Diamond Certificate
Grading of Black Diamonds
All our loose Black diamonds have been graded and certified by European Gemological Laboratories (EGL). MyBlackDiamonds.com is the first jeweler to get its black diamonds certified. EGL has laid down certain grade standards for the Black Diamonds. Only the table and crown clarity has been considers while grading the diamonds, for two reasons. Firstly their distinct construction and opaque color; inclusions below the girdle do not influence the face of the stone. These inclusions cannot be seen from the table rather can be easily hidden under the settings. Secondly all black diamonds have inclusions; perfectly flawless black diamonds are a very rare, may be one in a million mined diamonds.
EGL therefore identified that the clarity of the table is more crucial, followed by crown clarity. The best quality diamonds have a lustrous mid-night black color, with a very-very clean table. Black diamond color grade is usually referred to Fancy Black, as its one of the fancy colored diamond. Largely the color can be called black; other poor colors have a grayish tint making the diamond look pale. For more information please refer the table below-
